When the politician supports and encourages the entrepreneur

What a surprise ! And what satisfaction to hear politicians say to an audience of entrepreneurs around the world: “We need you to make technological transitions and make the planet a better place; invest with us and elsewhere in the world, we will make your job easier in order to benefit from your positive impact”. And the pleasure is even greater when this call is addressed to a high proportion of women entrepreneurs.

This is the speech I heard during the “Global Entrepreneurship Summit” held in The Hague at the beginning of June, organized by the governments of the United States and the Netherlands.

The focus was on the urgent need to help entrepreneurs to create their business and access investments at the right level. In Algeria, progress needs to be made. In Europe, access to European Union funds is still an obstacle course for a small business. However, investment funds exist on a global scale, whether sovereign or private. They are often ready to finance but you have to know how to reach them.

I would like to insist on the growing role of women. They were numerous among the 2000 participants from 150 countries. The mayor of The Hague is a woman, many Dutch ministerial posts are held by women. And I'm not talking about the Queen of the Netherlands or Donald Trump's daughter who were there...

Women can change the world in all areas, particularly in Africa: energy, water, mobility, health, education, the fight against pollution, the inclusion of all. It is a matter of political choice. You have to make that choice.

Solar in India: really impressive!
From April 11 to 16 - I have just returned from India, where I was able to observe the formidable development of photovoltaic solar energy. This country-continent is, with China, the "locomotive" of solar power, ahead of the United States and Europe. Its installed capacity of some 20 GW places it in 6th place in the world but it is the rate of growth that takes your breath away: 100% increase from 2016 to 2017, a target of 100 GW in 2022, 250 GW in 2030. And the experts I met told me that these objectives will no doubt be achieved a few years before. The largest park in the world is that of Kamuthi, in Tamil Nadu. India wants to produce 40% of its electricity with renewable energies (solar, wind, biogas, hydraulic) by 2030. It now depends massively on coal. As its major cities are growing at breakneck speed, pollution has become a major public health problem.

The Women Economic Forum which I attended brought together in New Delhi more than 2,000 women from 5 continents. What a joy to meet all these women entrepreneurs actively committed to sustainable development. Positive energy, colors, smiles and talents, performances, to advance all positive initiatives. In this contrast and this dazzling diversity of India, we found this same rich diversity among the profiles. Doctors, lawyers, business leaders, university professors, artists, wellness consultants, farmers! We are a few to have been distinguished as women of excellence.
Proud and honored to have participated in this Women Economic Forum and to be among all these women who contribute to making our world a better place every day.
